Karia
After the capital is the largest and most inhabited village on the island. A thousand islanders have chosen this cool village in the heart of the hinterland famous for the tradition of olive wood carving and hand embroidery. Even today lace embroidered by expert hand, souvenirs and furniture made of local wood are sold in all island’s bazar. Secular plane trees shade the customers of the bars and taverns that overlook the central square, making them breathe that typical Greek atmosphere that imperturbably challenges the passage of time.
